True Story Award

Committed research, journalistic competence, social relevance: The True Story Award is the principal global award for reporting. The central idea behind the award is to expand the predominantly Western view of the world through the voices of reporters from different countries with diverse perspectives. The True Story Award is intended to encourage stories to be told; from the megacities and from the most remote corners of this earth, smaller and more major stories, touching and disconcerting, loud and softly-spoken.
For the International Reportagen Festival Bern 2021, 39 prominent jurors from 12 language regions around the world have assessed around 1,200 reports. The authorsof the 39 most convincing works will be invited to Bern from 20–22 August 2021. From among these, an eight-person principal jury with representatives from four continents will select the three winnersof the True Story Award 2021.
