The Narrated World

When we put our experiences into words, stories emerge. They are the bedrock of relationships, the bond between people. When we hear stories, we become part of a life unknown to us. If we dare to let ourselves be moved in our understanding, we open ourselves up to an alternate, new reality. The willingness to grapple with the diversity of our time paves the way for respect, esteem and tolerance.
For the second time since 2019, Bern will celebrate true stories and accounts. During the second International Reportagen Festival Bern, held between 23–25 June 2023, 60 journalists from 32 countries will take us on a journey to the most remote corners of the world. Over the course of the three days, discussions, workshops and face-to-face meetings across 11 venues will reflect the multi-voiced, intercultural sound of the narrated world.
The festival will kick off with its main event: the presentation of the True Story Award, the first global award for reporting, on the evening of Friday, 23 June 2023 at Casino Bern. On Saturday and Sunday 24 and 25 June 2023, our guests will present their work to the public at around 50 events.
The full programme will be published in early 2022. Subscribe to our newsletter – and from Spring 2023 become a friend of the International Reportagen Festival Bern!
